JAH Lives! by B.C
A very sick, old soul
These troubled hands, fall cold
To say I’ll live past tomorrow
Would be a story, falsely told
I say I’m scared at the least
So full of hunger, can I have
A small slice, a tiny portion
Of your holy, inner peace?
You, kind soul, could have
Some of my breadfruit
This is all I have to give
But when the sun sets,
I’ll say thank you:
you love,
and
Jah lives!
These troubled hands, fall cold
To say I’ll live past tomorrow
Would be a story, falsely told
I say I’m scared at the least
So full of hunger, can I have
A small slice, a tiny portion
Of your holy, inner peace?
You, kind soul, could have
Some of my breadfruit
This is all I have to give
But when the sun sets,
I’ll say thank you:
you love,
and
Jah lives!

My favorite part is the lines:
A small slice, a tiny portion
Of your holy, inner peace?
because it keeps me interested.
I found this poem a little unclear. I enjoyed the certain worldly aspect of it but I feel as if I can't possibly understand this as well as the author.

My favorite part is everything.
I like the Jah lives portion because it really conveys the poet's feelings.
I like the idea of referring to inner peace as something to have a hunger for. Inverted word order adds interest to the poem. The poem starts quite depressingly, but ends on a happy note...which I like!
it's interesting.
i just asked you what it meant so i get it.
i wont spoil it for anyone else.
two thumbs up bryce
I liked the flow of the poem; it moved along rather nicely. Well done. =)
