L(one)r by J.N.
In the middle of that, one , park
off that, one, road
near that, one, restauant-
(that, one, we said we'd try
but neither, one, of us ever did)-
Stood this, one, beautiful tree.
Standing majestic and (one)derous
through more than, one, thunderstorm
and especially that, one, forest fire-
(you know, the, one, that singed almost every tree
and we knew every(one) who started it?)-
This, one, tree held firm to its roots.
But now, aband(one)d by all nature
standing firm in that, one, spot
in that, one, lonesome park-
(that, one, where all but this, one, tree were
uprooted, mad into firewood long ago;
and no(one) visits)-
This, one, bittersweet tree still stands.
All al(one).
